This course builds on Project Management Fundamentals. Take it first if you are new to the topic.

About this course

Most software, product and IT teams now deliver in short cycles using Scrum, Kanban or a mix of both. This intermediate course explains how that works in practice, following one small team that builds a booking app for a community sports centre. You will learn the agile values and how they differ from a plan-everything-first waterfall approach, how Scrum's roles, events and artifacts fit together, and how Kanban uses work-in-progress limits to keep work flowing; then refine and estimate a backlog, plan a sprint around a goal and run a review and a retrospective; and finally read burndown charts and cycle-time data, set up a board in a free tool and compare the main certifications (Scrum.org PSM, Scrum Alliance CSM, PMI-ACP and SAFe). Each lesson has a short reading, curated videos and a practical task. It builds on Project Management Fundamentals; the one code exercise is fill-in-the-blank and needs no programming experience.
