About this course

This mid-level course takes technical trainers from designing a lesson to running a training program. You will facilitate activities with a structured debrief, teach technical skills with live demos and guided practice, and run virtual sessions that keep people involved; run a training needs analysis that separates training problems from tool and process problems, design a 30-day onboarding plan, and set up a course in a learning management system; and evaluate training with Kirkpatrick's four levels, analyze completion and score data with a short SQL query, and compare trainer credentials such as ATD's APTD and CPTD and vendor trainer programs. One running example, onboarding new support engineers onto an incident-response tool, connects the lessons. Activities are practical tasks you can run with friends, colleagues or a free LMS sandbox. It builds on Instructional Design & How People Learn.
