Before you start
This course builds on Mobile Development Basics and Back-End Web APIs. Take them first if you are new to the topic.
About this course
A mid-level course for developers who can already build a React Native app and want to ship and maintain one professionally. The first module covers app architecture (screens, state and services), caching API data with offline fallbacks, and secure authentication on a public client: tokens in the Keychain and Keystore, refresh flows and OAuth with PKCE. The second module covers quality: unit, component and end-to-end tests with Jest, React Native Testing Library and Maestro or Detox; profiling and fixing slow lists; and testing with VoiceOver and TalkBack. The last module covers releases: store listings, signing, privacy declarations and review; build profiles, crash reporting and over-the-air updates; and deciding when a native module is worth it. Every lesson has a reading, free videos and a quiz, and most have hands-on steps on your own computer and phone using free tiers. Publishing to the stores needs paid developer accounts (Apple $99 per year, Google Play $25 one-off; checked on 2026-10-23), but every exercise can be finished without paying. Prerequisites: Mobile Development Basics and Back-End Web APIs.
